James Antoniono is an attorney and partner at DeBernardo, Antoniono, McCabe & Davis, P.C., where he focuses on personal injury, estate law, and estate planning. He has practiced law for decades and is known for guiding individuals and families through complex legal matters with expertise and care. Antoniono earned an M.A. from Rutgers University (1972) and a J.D. from Duquesne University (1979).

Larry Brown is a partner at Brookman, Rosenberg, Brown & Sandler in Philadelphia, specializing in asbestos exposure litigation. A Penn State graduate (B.A. in history, 1971), he earned his J.D. from Villanova University (1975). Earlier in his career, he served as chief of the Economic Crime Unit in Philadelphia under then-District Attorney Ed Rendell before becoming one of the most sought-after mesothelioma attorneys in Pennsylvania. Brown has served on the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and is president of the Lawyers Club of Philadelphia. Philadelphia Magazine has recognized him as a Super Lawyer every year since 2005. He is also a member of the Liberal Arts Development Council and the Richards Civil War Era Center Board of Visitors.

Carolyn Grow is a retired executive from Xerox Corporation, where she managed application software development and contributed to the early creation of digital imaging systems and electronic publishing products. She helped pioneer advances in digital imaging and holds a patent in imaging technology. Grow earned a B.S. from the University of Mary Washington (1966), an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester (1980), and an honorary degree from Penn State’s College of the Liberal Arts (2020). Her planned gift will endow a professorship at the Simon Business School. She is a member of the University of Rochester’s Wilson Society, which recognizes estate gifts.

Sandy Hillman is president and founder of Sandy Hillman Communications, a Baltimore-based advertising and public relations agency. She launched her firm after serving as vice chair and CEO of a major full-service advertising and public relations company. Earlier, Hillman spent thirteen years as executive director of the Baltimore Office of Promotion and Tourism, where she led the transformation of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor into a world-class destination. Time magazine dubbed her the “impresario of urban America” for this internationally recognized work. Hillman serves on the boards of the University of Maryland Foundation, the Greater Baltimore Committee, and Living Classrooms.

Jeffrey Hyde retired after a distinguished career working with Pennsylvania government offices, including the Department of Revenue, Auditor General, and Treasury; top accounting firms such as Arthur Andersen & Co. and PricewaterhouseCoopers; and major corporations such as General Electric and IBM. A Penn State graduate (B.A. in prelaw/B.S. in education, 1977), he earned his J.D. from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law (1980) and his Master of Laws in Taxation from Temple University School of Law (1984). Hyde is a member emeritus of the Political Science Board of Visitors and a current member of the McCourtney Institute for Democracy and School of Public Policy Boards of Visitors. Beyond Penn State, he serves as treasurer on the board of the Penn State Federal Credit Union and is on the board of directors for The State Theatre. He and his wife, Sharon, a 1982 graduate of Dickinson School of Law, have two children.

Dennis Jackman earned an M.B.A. from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management after graduating from Penn State. He was a senior legislative aide to U.S. Senator Arlen Specter before moving on to senior government and public affairs positions in the biopharmaceutical industry. He retired in 2019 as senior vice president for global policy and external affairs at CSL Behring. Today, Jackman serves on the Board of the National Organization for Rare Disorders and is a member of the boards of visitors for the Rock Ethics Institute and the McCourtney Institute for Democracy. He and his wife, Gail ’77, established a trustee scholarship in the college and an undergraduate research grant fund in the Rock Ethics Institute. In 2020, the Jackmans were named Penn State’s Fundraising Volunteers of the Year.

Elizabeth King is managing partner of Elizabeth M. King Consulting, LLC, and the retired vice president of human resources solutions and services for Starbucks Corporation. Over her nineteen-year tenure, Starbucks expanded from 1,100 to nearly 75,000 locations worldwide, and King played a pivotal role in guiding the company’s rapid growth. In her final role, she oversaw HR systems and services for 180,000 North American employees and implemented several international systems, including Starbucks’ global payroll system. Since 2000, King has served on advisory boards in Penn State’s School of Hospitality Management and has established three scholarships at Penn State, including two for female undergraduates in the College of Information Sciences and Technology.

Ted McCourtney is a partner at Saw Mill Partners and an independent investor with decades of experience in venture capital and private equity. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.S., 1960), he earned his M.B.A. from Harvard University (1966). McCourtney is a former general partner at Venrock, one of the nation’s pioneering venture capital firms focused on emerging technologies and healthcare, where he served from 1970 to 2000. Over the course of his career, he has helped launch and guide numerous innovative companies while mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs and investors.

Tracy Winfree McCourtney is a retired social worker and a dedicated supporter of Penn State’s College of the Liberal Arts. After graduating, she worked with foster children and families in New York City, an experience that shaped her enduring commitment to creating opportunities for others. With her husband, Ted McCourtney, she has helped strengthen the liberal arts through extensive philanthropic support, including a transformative $3 million gift to establish the McCourtney Institute for Democracy. The McCourtneys have endowed undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, faculty professorships, and program funds in areas including psychology, sociology, American history, and the humanities. They have also supported the Moore Building renovation and the Career Enrichment Network.

David Nevins is chairman of the board of the Bridge Alliance, a national nonprofit working to strengthen democracy by fostering civic engagement, trustworthy journalism, and governance reform. He is also publisher of The Fulcrum, a nonpartisan news platform focused on democracy, and president of Nevins Real Estate Management. A Penn State economics graduate (B.A., 1969), Nevins earned his M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business (1971). In 2014, he created the Nevins Fellows program, an initiative of the McCourtney Institute for Democracy that places students in high-level internships with organizations dedicated to democratic innovation and civic engagement.

Donna Oliver is a retired attorney from Duane Morris LLP, an international law firm where she built a distinguished career in legal practice. She earned a J.D. from Temple University (1984) and has extensive experience guiding clients through complex legal matters. Oliver is an active member of the McCourtney Institute of Democracy Board of Visitors and the Penn State Liberal Arts Development Council.

Laura Rosenberger is chair of the American Institute in Taiwan and a senior fellow and director of the bipartisan Alliance for Securing Democracy at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. She previously served as foreign policy advisor for Hillary for America, coordinating the campaign’s national security policies, messaging, and strategy. Earlier in her career, Rosenberger held roles at the U.S. Department of State and on the National Security Council at the White House. She earned an M.A. in international peace and conflict resolution from American University (2004).
